If You Have to Ask

Don’t ask for love it should arrive,

Like morning light that warms the sky

If whispered hearts don’t beat your name,

No plea can set their soul to flame

Don’t beg for loyalty to stay,

It walks beside you or it strays away

The silent vow, the steady hand,

Speak louder than obedience demand

Support that waits for you to call,

Will never catch your deepest fall

The ones who stand without request,

Are truly those who love you best

So let them go, the ones unsure,

Because forced feelings never stay pure

For what is real, you'll never chase

It finds you first, it knows its place..

A lone person stands under a black umbrella in the rain, reaching out with an empty hand as a blurred figure walks away in the distance symbolizing the pain of love, loyalty, or support that must be asked for.
